早いもので住み始めてから5年近くになるボルダーも
あと半年ほどで離れることになりました。

年末にテキサス州都のオースチンへ引っ越します。
テキサス大学にある地球物理学研究所の研究員になります。
先週正式なオファーにサインしました。

今の私には申し訳ないくらいの契約内容で
期待に添えるよういい研究を続けて行かなければと
身の引き締まる思いです。

5年後にテニュア(終身雇用権)の審査があるので
それを目標に頑張ります。

オースチンにはくまさんのお姉さん一家が住んでいます。
きいちゃんの大好きな従姉のアレキシアにも毎週会えるよ！
オースチン生活、満喫するぞ〜。

4th of July Weekend

On the way to park...
Two years ago, I spent an hour here to take a picture
to use in Kiara's 1st birthday party invitation.
This time, she posed and smiled for me in a few seconds!

"Mommy!"
She likes to call us from every slit of the railing.

Daddy is starting charcoal while we play at the park.

On 4th, we drove up to Brainard Lake for a short hike and picnic.
A park ranger said they got 200% of average snowfall this spring
and some parking lots were still closed.

時々行くお花屋さんの温室に住んでいるオウムに
大好きなアンパンマンを見せてあげているきいちゃんです。
ばあばが送ってくれたアンパンマンのDVDのおかげで
日本語も沢山話すようになりました。

昨年末から何やら落ち着かない日々を過ごしていたのですが
もう少しで一段落しそうです。
半年分の写真の一部を一気に公開（笑）。

Happy New Year!

This year's Xmas/New Year card.

Kiara and I went to visit my family in Japan in November.
It had been four and half years since I went back to Japan the previous time.
It was not easy to be in an airplane for 16.5 hours (25 hours door to door)
with a 2-year old but it paid off after seeing everyone's big smile.

New Year is the biggest family event in Japan.
I cooked some traditional dishes with ingredients I could get here.

本年もどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

御陰さまで家族皆元気にコロラドで暮らしています。
フルタイムに戻ってから毎日が怒濤のように過ぎて行きます。
きいちゃんが眠りについた後、ハーブティーを飲みながら
ネットサーフィンし、ヘッドホンをして電子ピアノを弾くのが
安らぎのひとときです。休日に一日中小説を読みふけったりしていた
学生時代が懐かしくもあるけど、きいちゃんとのかけがえの無い毎日を
大切に暮らしています。

元旦の昨日は半日台所に立ちっぱなしでおせちモドキを作っていました。
我ながらなかなか美味しかったです。

また気まぐれに更新できればと思います。
2011年が皆様にとって素敵な年になりますように。
